Pool Building Update – 2014-04-12

Pool Roof

We have hired an engineer to evaluate the issues with the pool building roof. The analysis will begin immediately with thermography tests and conclude with an engineer’s report. The reason we have hired the engineer is two-fold:
1.       The pool building is affected by a number of complex realities including humidity from below, high indoor temperatures, ventilation, condensation, skylights, and the roof itself. We do not have the skills in-house to evaluate the entirety of the issues. This is particularly important as we have a wide variety of bids ranging from contractors of $8,000 to $60,000. Obviously, each bidder has a different idea of what is necessary and we want to fix this properly.
2.       The contractors are telling us that with an engineer’s report, they will extend their guarantee. Otherwise, the most they will offer is five years.  The people who did the repair last year did not guarantee their work at all.
Depending on what is needed, the repair may begin right away. However, due to the cold winter and late start of the roofing season, a more comprehensive repair may only be possible in the late summer. We’ll keep you informed when we know.

Pool Water Quality

The water quality is excellent right now although it is not quite as clear as it was about 2 months ago. Little by little it is clearing up but it will still take a bit of time before it returns to its former pristine state.

Jacuzzi

You will notice that one of our Jacuzzis has been shut down for the week. Once again, someone has introduced bubbles to water and it requires hours of work to get it working properly again. We hope to have it working early in the week; however, we would like to remind you of the necessity to shower prior to using the Jacuzzi.

As you can imagine, the extra amount of work in the area is putting a lot of pressure on our superintendents and is using time that they can spend on more important chores.
