Pool Update

It is obvious that the pool building needs work. Due to water infiltration, the horizontal pillars under the roof have been damaged and a part of the ceiling now also needs repair. The pool itself needs to be painted but this cannot be done until the pool roof repairs have been completed.

Pool Roof

Despite having been replaced only 8 years before, the pool roof began to leak again last year. We contracted for a repair that was to be done prior to the annual construction holiday last summer but unfortunately it could not be completed by the contractor until long after. At the time, we sealed the skylights, added flashing, and did a number of other smaller repairs. It was not known whether the repair would be enough.

Because of the late start, we were unable to react during the cold winter months when the repair proved to be inadequate. Now that the weather is due to warm up in the next few weeks, we will start to address this issue with greatest sense of urgency. It is our hope that the roof issue will be resolved during April.

Pool Water Quality

As for the pool itself, 3 years ago we installed a dosing system to feed chlorine and other chemicals automatically. Since then, the water in our pool has been perfectly clear and consistently in balance chemically.

Recently, there have been issues where the system’s automatic sensors are not doing their job. You will notice that we currently test the water quality twice every day. Unfortunately
,we even had to shut down the pool last week for a time to get the water back in balance.

Painting of the Pool

Once the roof repair is complete and we are confident that we can proceed, we will undertake to paint the pool. This will mean that the pool will be closed for a period of about a month. We are constantly looking for innovative and cost-effective solutions and are considering supplementing the existing automatic dosing system with a UV system that will reduce our need for chlorine and eliminate other chemicals completely.

Jacuzzis

The Jacuzzi on the PH2 side is not operational as its plastic parts became brittle and eventually just crumbled. We are waiting for replacement parts to arrive but there is an additional issue as the broken plastic pieces have entered the piping and there is no easy way to get them out.
In addition to this issue, there have been a number of recent incidents in the Jacuzzis that have negatively impacted our Jacuzzis. The last one
,which caused many problems that required almost a week to resolve
,was that someone created a bubble bath in one of the Jacuzzis. This not only shut down the Jacuzzi but also was costly in terms of resources and dollars.
