We met with
Videotron last Monday afternoon.
To
summarize our discussion:
Internet
If/when we
sign a new contract for our internet group, there will be multiple options.
Those who require more capacity or speed should be able to obtain that from the
group offering. We will no longer be one size fits all.
Television
Videotron’s
current commercial pricing would require a 50% increase in TV fees compared to
what we are currently paying. Our Videotron representative will be preparing a
business case to bring to her management to justify a lower fee.
Our current
“Ultra” plan will cease to exist after December 2018. If we continue with a TV
contract after that date, it would be a package of approximately 60 channels
rather than the current 115 channels. However, 30 of those channels would be
customizable to each person’s needs and we would not be limited to the channels
of the group.
On the
other hand, Videotron is regularly adding new options and they are likely to
offer completely new options when the time comes.
All that is
to say that TV price and offerings are significant hurdles to overcome to
arrive at a satisfactory TV result – particularly for a long-term contract. If
we cannot agree on TV, it would also negatively affect our chances for a
workable internet group.
Internet Group Billing
We will be
sending out an invoice for another 3 months very soon as it is very likely that
what we have will continue at least until then.

I work from home, and I am on the Internet 15 hours a day, so I get all the information online. Paying for TV is more than strange, to say nothing of paying still more (!?).
I have been asking all our managers since 2003 to cancel our TV subscription, but all in vain. If the subscription can't be canceled, a few basic channels would be more than enough.
Do we really have to depend on the pensioners who can't live without their TV series? I am a hard working person, and I have no time for watching TV. Many others think like that, I am sure.
